Gardens can become unloved over autumn and winter meaning Spring is the perfect opportunity to get your green fingers ready and head outdoors!
Get tidying –
Clear your lawn (artificial or not) of any fallen leaves, twigs and other debris that accumulates over the winter, giving yourself a fresh start. It’s important to start these jobs ASAP, as spring bulbs will be jumping out of the ground any day now!
Prep your garden tools –
Gather together all of the tools that have been sitting around all winter and give them a thorough clean. Clean off the tools with soap and water, and use mineral spirits on wood handles. The mineral spirits will help prevent the wood from splintering.
Make a plan –
Not all plants can grow everywhere, it is handy to consult someone who can advice you on where is best to plant certain flowers for the best growth. Mixing flowering varieties with those that are green year round help your garden stay vibrant year round.
Check over outdoor furniture –
After the snowy winter we had, it’s best to check over any outdoor furniture you have, especially if it’s wooden and see if anything needs repairing of replacing. If any wooden furniture needs a fresh coat of paint, why not go for something bright and vibrant and give your garden a makeover?
Decorate –
Make your garden the place people want to spend time, check out garden decorations like lights and ornaments to make your garden cosy!
