How does artificial grass drain water?
How artificial grass drains water (avoiding muddy puddles!)
Artificial grass has become a popular alternative to natural grass due to its low maintenance requirements, durability, and year-round aesthetic appeal. One of the concerns people often have about artificial grass is how it drains water, especially during heavy rain.
Artificial grass is designed to drain water in a way that is similar to natural grass. When fit properly by qualified, experienced installers, water simply drains through holes in the base. Of course, heavier rainfall may take longer to dry out than a light shower, as you’d expect. This process is similar to how water drains through soil and natural grass. The water then seeps into the underlying layers and eventually makes its way into the ground below.
The installation process is essential for successful drainage. When installing your grass, we follow the following steps;
1 ) The ground is prepared. We start by digging out your existing lawn and removing and large stones, bricks and other obstructions.
2 ) Once the ground is level and compacted, we install a non woven geo textile weed barrier to help prevent the growth of weeds from below, whilst still allowing drainage
3 ) To ensure a neat and even finish, a lot of attention is put around the perimeter of the lawn for a solid, secure and permanent edge. We can also add brick or slab edging if there is not a solid one already in place
4 ) To get an even surface we will infill the area with hardcore/type 1
5 ) We level off the ground and vibrate down
6 ) The sand layer is then applied and levelled off
7 ) After the foundations have been made we lay your chosen artificial grass in place
8 ) Final checks are made, ensuring all waste and debris is removed leaving your garden looking brand new!
The Benefits of Artificial Grass for Commercial and Industrial Settings
What Are The Benefits of Artificial Grass for Commercial and Industrial Settings?

This type of grass is made from synthetic materials and is designed to look and feel like natural grass. There are many benefits to using artificial grass in commercial environments, including the following:
Low Maintenance
Artificial grass requires very little maintenance compared to natural grass. This means that you won’t have to worry about watering, mowing, or fertilizing. This can save you time and money in the long run, as long as you maintain it well!
Durability
Artificial grass is durable and can withstand foot traffic, harsh weather conditions, and other stress. This makes it ideal for areas such as playgrounds, parks, and sports fields.
Cost-effective
Artificial grass is more cost-effective than natural grass over time. This is because it requires less maintenance, and can last for many years with proper care and maintenance.
Aesthetically pleasing
Artificial grass can look just as good, if not better, than natural grass. This makes it a great option for creating a beautiful and attractive outdoor environment, whether it be for a park, commercial property, or industrial setting.

Artificial Grass doesn’t require the use of pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals that can harm the environment. Additionally, it uses less water, which is important in areas where water is scarce.
How to Make Artificial Grass Look Natural
How to Make Artificial Grass Look Natural
Artificial grass has come a long way in recent years, and many homeowners are choosing to install it as a low-maintenance alternative to natural grass. However, one of the biggest concerns people have when it comes to artificial turf is that it doesn’t look natural. The good news is that there are ways to make artificial grass look more authentic. In this blog post, we’ll discuss some tips and tricks for making your artificial turf look as natural as possible.
Choose the right type of artificial grass: Not all artificial turf is created equal. Some types of turf are designed to look more realistic than others. Be sure to do your research and choose a turf that is designed to mimic the look of natural grass.
Consider the pile height: The pile height of artificial turf refers to the height of the individual blades of grass. The taller the pile, the more natural it will look. However, keep in mind that taller piles may require more maintenance.
Use infill: Infill is a material that is applied to the base of the artificial turf. It helps to give the turf a more natural look and feel. It also improves the durability and performance of the turf.
Use a variety of colours: Natural grass is not just one shade of green. It has a variety of different shades and tones. When choosing artificial turf, look for a product that has a variety of colours to make it look more natural.
Add natural elements: Adding natural elements such as rocks, flowers, or plants can help make your artificial turf look more natural. This can also help to improve the overall look of your landscape.
By following these tips, you can make your artificial turf look as natural as possible. With the right type of artificial turf, the right pile height, and the right infill, you can create a beautiful and natural-looking lawn that will last for years to come.
The Do’s and Don’ts of Artificial Grass | How To Maintain Your Artificial Grass
The Do’s and Don’ts of Artificial Grass | How To Maintain Your Artificial Grass
So you just got your shiny new artificial turf installed, and now you’re wondering ‘how can I keep it in the best condition possible?’…
Artificial grass is so durable that you can do almost anything you would normally do on it. Did you know that half of NFL teams use artificial grass in their stadiums? If artificial grass can withstand a game of American Football, it can surely withstand a garden party or the kids running around with their friends!
But of course artificial grass can still be damaged, and there are some steps that you need to take to ensure that your artificial grass stays in perfect condition for as long as possible. Read on to find out our do’s and don’ts for maintaining your grass…
Do:
- Be gentle when brushing away debris and dust. You should use a medium, soft bristle brush to ensure it is gentle enough on your artificial grass, and brush against the direction of the artificial fibres.
- Give your grass a quick rinse every so often – if you have pets, this is also a good way to maintain cleanliness after they do their business, along with a spray cleaner. We also recommend you book a deeper grass clean regularly (depending on how much you use your garden).
- Use a weed killer twice a year if you find weeds growing through drainage holes in your artificial grass, this is rare but it can happen.
- Play, run, jump… Enjoy your new grass! Remember, artificial grass doesn’t leave any stains on clothing, so you can have fun without worrying about ruining your clothes, and it’s durable so you can have as much fun as you want on it!
Don’t:
- Use sharp objects on your artificial grass. This includes pushing sharp objects into the grass, instead opt for objects with weighted ends to sit on top of the grass.
- Park heavy vehicles on your grass. Bicycles, wheelbarrows and wheelchairs are fine, but anything heavier should be kept away.
- Keep barbeques, cigarettes or fire pits on your artificial grass, as hot ash or fire can cause the fibres to melt.
The best thing about artificial grass is that it is very low maintenance and it doesn’t take much to keep it in good shape. As long as you maintain your grass regularly, and swiftly clean up spills and accidents, you’ll have no issues!
